Bio
I was born and raised in Randleman, North Carolina. My formal study of music began when I started playing piano at the age of seven. I have always been grateful to my first teacher who gave me the opportunity to accompany choirs in church and in the community. It was this encouragement and coaching that laid the foundation for all of the musical experiences that have followed.
After graduating from high school, I went on to study sacred music piano performance and math education at Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Upon graduation from college, I spent several years teaching high school mathematics courses, directing Junior High and Senior High Choirs, and teaching private piano lessons. During this time I received my Masters of Music Education degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
For several years, I was the accompanist for the choirs at a large high school in Michigan. It was a joy working with these students to create and perform music.
I am excited to be here in my hometown, teaching music to the students at Randleman Elementary School.
When I am not teaching music, I love to read, take long walks, and spend time with my husband, Jimmy, and our two boys, Tyler and Trevor.
